With the objective of strengthening the technical and scientific capacities of Venezuela, the National Assembly (AN) approved in the first discussion, and unanimously, the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Bill.
According to a press release from the Legislative Branch, the president of the Standing Committee on Education, Health, Science, Technology and Innovation, Deputy José Villarroel, presented the disruptive project that has a social and human character, since it contemplates the participation of communes.
He noted that the purpose of the bill is to protect, evaluate and promote the development, use and applications of AI, ensuring compliance with fundamental principles and rights that allow the country's development.
He stressed that the regularization of this field of information technology is sought for its responsible use; in sovereign productive development processes and for the welfare of the Venezuelan people. “The oversight, control and promotion of AI is sought in different areas such as education, local development and awareness,” he said.
He urged the Venezuelan people to take advantage of the potential of AI and asserted that it is the imperial powers that have the greatest participation in the development of this technology.
On the other hand, the deputy Gustavo Navas explained that the bill has 57 articles and four chapters, which is intended to leverage the engine of national development. “AI makes it possible to develop and perfect the processes of planting and harvesting on the ground,” he stressed.
AI is related to robotics, cybersecurity, virtual reality, the internet in the cloud, big data, drug manufacturing and predicts the economic processes of companies, Navas said.
