The National Assembly (AN) approved by qualified majority the Basic Legislative Program 2026-2027, presented by the President of the Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, during the regular session this Thursday.

The president of the AN stressed that the program provides for 29 laws and that the Parliament will carry out the proposal to reorganize Venezuelan legislation into eight major codes. He also reported that the study of three laws at the initiative of the Executive will begin: The Partial Reform of the Organic Law on Hydrocarbons, the Organic Law for the Acceleration and Optimization of Administrative Procedures and the Organic Law for the Protection of Socioeconomic Rights.

Regarding the oil reform, he said: “The oil under the ground is useless. We need to accelerate production and remove the obstacles that hold it back.”

Regarding the Socio-Economic Protection Act, he indicated that its objective is to reinforce the mechanisms that guarantee respect for the agreed prices.

Rodríguez added that the AN will soon have to address a bill for the defense of revenues. “Soon we will have to work on a law that adapts to the new times to defend the entry of Venezuelans,” he said.

In conclusion, he expressed his expectations about the plan's compliance:

“I hope that when December 15 of this year 2026 comes, we will have a positive balance of the development of this legislative plan,” he concluded.
