Yesterday, the National Assembly (AN) unanimously approved, in the first discussion, the Bill to guarantee freedom of navigation and commerce against piracy, blockades and other illegal international acts, whose creation was motivated by recent threats and violent actions by the United States in the Caribbean Sea, as well as the theft of two Venezuelan oil tankers.

In an extraordinary session, the presentation of the bill was given by Deputy Giuseppe Alessandrello, who explained that the law seeks to protect the country's commercial relations and protect Venezuelans from predatory actions by the United States government in the Venezuelan sea.

The president of the AN, deputy Jorge Rodríguez, argued that the United States does not respect the rights of peoples and individuals, “they are worthy heirs of Sir Francis Drake, called 'Caballero' by Queen Elizabeth I, just because he is a pirate in the Caribbean.”

“Right now we are in the presence of the same file, the same practice, which is why Bertrand Russell said that the United States of America is an empire that has moved from place to place. The same empire, the same practice, the same barbarism. The same crime and the same crime,” he said.

In this regard, Rodríguez emphasized that “this people of Venezuela with parsimony, decency and dignity will respond to all aggressions and will win, have no doubt about that.”
