The majority of the deputies of the National Assembly (AN) approved, in the ordinary session this Tuesday, the Partial Reform of the Organic Law of the Supreme Court of Justice.
Among the changes to the legislation, approved by the deputies, is the integration of 32 magistrates, each Chamber consisting of five judges, with the exception of the Constitutional Chamber, which would be composed of seven authorities, in order to optimize judicial processes and the structure of the body.
In this regard, at the end of the vote, the president of the parliament, deputy Jorge Rodríguez, instructed the deputy Giuseppe Alesandrello, president of the commission that advances the renewal of the magistrates that make up the country's Supreme Court, to take this new composition into account when selecting the new ones.
Regarding the approval of the reform to this legal instrument, the president of the Sectorial Subcommittee on the Justice System Regime, deputy Rosa León, stressed that it will optimize the Judiciary to provide an immediate response and guarantee effective protection.
He explained, in an interview with the media, that this modification is also a strategic response to resolve the accumulation of pending cases that were caused, to a large extent, by operational restrictions during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The parliamentarian León explained that the reform facilitates the formation of joint working committees with a larger number of magistrates, overcoming the current limitations that arise even with the incorporation of alternates.
He indicated that this operational expansion is essential to expedite the issuance of judgments and resolutions that are pending, ensuring expedited justice for all citizens.
