The deputies to the National Assembly approved, this Thursday, the bill on the Control, Regularization, Action and Financing of Non-Governmental Organizations and Non-Profit Social Organizations.

The above-mentioned legal instrument was approved unanimously with the vote of the majority of parliamentarians, so that this Law, as dictated by the regulation, can be sent to the Executive for enactment.

It is important to note that the articles of this Law establish that the Ministry of Interior, Justice and Peace must constitute and maintain a national registry of non-profit NGOs and Social Organizations, which must contain a systematization and updating of information relating to the Constitution, financing, operation and modification of the same.

In addition, a provision was approved stating that NGOs and non-profit Social Organizations must obtain tax registration in compliance with tax legislation.

The purpose of this Act is to review and monitor the NGOs that receive funding, which in many cases have been used as instruments to attack the people and fund actions against our country.

Its articles clearly establish the responsibilities and duties of Non-Governmental and Related Organizations, as well as the regulations for their operation and funding.
