The VIII Meeting of Knowledge, Sounds and
Flavors will begin with a musical journey through tango, bolero and other
popular rhythms linked to heartbreak and urban experiences, in a program
that will take place from May 12 to 14 at the Viva Venezuela Hall, located on the 17th floor of
the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture, in Caracas.
The activity, organized by the Institute
of Performing and Musical Arts (IAEM), will open its agenda this Tuesday with the discussion
“The song of the suburbs as a chronicle of life”, directed by teacher Pedro Laporta.
Later, the workshop “The Forms of Singing:
Expression, Interpretation and Style” will be held, focusing on vocal techniques and the
interpretation of these musical genres.
A
tour of the different street sounds related to heartbreak is scheduled for Wednesday the 13th,
from Agustín Lara to Juan Gabriel, an activity guided by the historian Miguel Naranjo.
The meeting will conclude on Thursday 14th with the
discussion “La Rocola de la Esquina”, a participatory space dedicated to
songs of spite and sentimental experiences rooted in popular memory.
In addition, the day will close with a show of doubles by artists
such as Juan Gabriel and Leonardo Fabio, in homage to mothers after the recent
celebration of their day.
The VIII Meeting of Knowledge, Sounds and Flavors includes five chapters that will run until next June 11. The program will be free and open to the public, as part of an IAEM initiative aimed at promoting different musical and cultural events in the region based on research and popular participation.
