The National Assembly (AN) closed the 2021-2025 legislative period with the approval of 100 laws aimed at protecting the People, defending the Republic and strengthening institutions, said the president of the parliamentary body Jorge Rodríguez during the extraordinary session held on Tuesday.

“The strength they have demonstrated in the exercise of their functions as parliamentarians and parliamentarians with the approval of this law of dignity against pirates and privateers in the Caribbean, we have reached law 100 approved by the national parliament in the five years of the legislature,” said Rodríguez.

The president of the legislature recalled that, during these five years, fundamental constitutional processes have been carried out, including the appointment of the National Electoral Council twice, the activation of the mechanisms established for the Supreme Court of Justice and the selection of the Comptroller General and the Attorney General of the Republic. He stated that these actions made it possible to overcome “the destruction to which fascism subjected this legal body” in the period 2015-2020.

“This National Assembly is the voice of the people. After you tried to kneel it to imperial designs to destroy the parliamentary function, you built a strong, courageous, patriotic and profoundly Venezuelan legislative power,” Rodríguez said, recognizing the work of the deputies.

At the close of the session, he thanked the commitment shown during the period 2021-2025. “It has been an honor to be with you in these five years of legislature. My life will not be enough to thank them for what they have done for the country. Thank you, thank you, thank you,” he said.
