AN for the legislative period 2026-2031 was installed this Monday

On January 5, in compliance with the provisions of article 219 of the Constitution of the Republic, the National Assembly (AN) was installed, which was elected in 2025 and will be responsible for legislating until 2031.

The installation of the new legislative period, as established in Article 3 of the Rules of the Interior and Debate of the AN, was installed by the oldest member of the parliament, Fernando Soto Rojas.

During his words, the parliamentarian raised his voice to repudiate the kidnapping of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. “The president has been kidnapped in a barbaric, devious and fascist attack by the Yankee empire, a fundamental enemy of the Venezuelan people, the region and the world. We will overcome, as a people and a nation, this situation,” he emphasized.

On the other hand, Soto Rojas criticized that the President of the United States pretends to be “prosecutor, judge and police of the world” and assured that from Venezuela we will tell him, once again, “they will not be able to”.

“From Bolivarian Venezuela, we tell them they won't be able to. We are going to develop all the solidarity so that our legitimate president, Nicolás Maduro, returns victorious to Miraflores,” he exclaimed to the applause of those present.
