This Wednesday, April 22, the Preliminary Committee of the Committee for the Evaluation of Judicial Applications was installed, appointed by the Plenary of the National Assembly (AN), last Tuesday, to choose the new magistrates who will join the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ).

In this regard, the president of the commission, Deputy Giuseppe Alessandrello, reported that they have already designed the work schedule that will govern the selection of the 10 civil society citizens who will be part of the Judicial Applications Evaluation Committee.

Alessandrello, referring to the structure of the Judicial Nominations Committee, specified that currently, the body has the participation of 11 deputies, who will lead the public call process for civil society.

The objective of this process is to evaluate and select 10 outstanding citizens who will join the commission, ensuring a transparent and participatory process in the renewal of the country's judicial bodies. The call seeks to add qualified profiles that contribute to the strengthening of the national justice system.

Once the above-mentioned Nomination Committee has been defined, there must be a public call to fill the vacancies available in the Supreme Court. Its duration must be up to 30 continuous days and the list of candidates must be published the day after closing. Subsequently, the committee must open a period of 15 days to receive challenges to the proposals.

Two-thirds of the Nominations Committee must approve the scale for electing the magistrates and send, the day after closing the challenges, a first pre-selection of candidates to the Committee for the Evaluation of Citizen Power, which has 10 days to make a second pre-selection and send the list to the National Assembly for final selection.
