The first vice-president of the National Assembly (AN), Deputy Pedro Infante, expressed this Tuesday, March 12, the Legislative Branch's rejection of the declarations of the Argentine Foreign Ministry against the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, after the decision to prevent the use of Venezuelan airspace by the South American nation.

During the regular session held at the Federal Legislative Palace, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, in a right of speech, Infante stressed that the Parliament supports the decision of the Bolivarian Government to prohibit Argentine airlines from flying over Venezuelan airspace.

Infante recalled that Venezuela made this decision after what he describes as the theft of the Emtrasur plane, which was detained in Argentina for alleged terrorist uses, was then taken to the United States, where it was destroyed.

“We want to send all the support of the National Assembly, to our Government, to President Nicolás Maduro and to this decision. Venezuela is a country that respects itself, that does not eat blackmail,” he said.

He specified that the Bolivarian Government chooses to make the decision to close airspace for operations with Argentina, even for those ships that go to or leave that country are prohibited from passing through Venezuela.

Infante recalled that on February 29, Venezuela denounced the actions of vandalism by the United States government against the EMTRASUR plane, stolen and sent to U.S. territory with the consent of the Argentine judicial system, which is why he described the governments of Argentina and the United States as “thieves”.

“Our plane was stolen, one that was purchased by the Bolivarian Government to bring medicines, vaccines, spare parts, food, and that allowed us to unlock the country. It was stolen by the United States government in complicity with that of Argentina, they are thieves. The fascist, neo-Nazi government of Argentina, and the government of the United States robbed us,” he said.

He assured that the measure is a recognition of the “courage and dignity” of the Venezuelan people and of the sovereign actions of the Government. For this reason, he asked to send a letter of support from Parliament to the President, Executive and the measure.

In addition, the parliamentarian stressed that Venezuela had already established a position at the time and the aforementioned decision is an “exercise of full sovereignty, of independence”.
