The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, swore in on Monday the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, as president in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, after the kidnapping of the head of state, Nicolás Maduro, by the United States (USA), during the illegal military incursion of last January 3.

“As Executive Vice President of the Constitutional President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, I come to take the oath of office, I come with pain because of the suffering that has been caused to the Venezuelan people, after the illegitimate military aggression against our Homeland,” Rodríguez said from the Federal Legislative Palace.

However, he added: “I come with honor to swear on behalf of all Venezuelans, I come to swear by our Liberating Father, Simon Bolivar, who is a guide and historic beacon of the future of Venezuela whose liberating blood flows through the veins of Venezuelans.”

Rodríguez swore for the Venezuelan people “not to rest even a minute to guarantee the peace of the Republic, the spiritual tranquility of our People, the economic and social tranquility of our People, and then I swear, on the basis of our Liberating Father in his Speech in Angostura, to guarantee a government that provides social happiness, political stability and political security.”
