Venezuela's Anriquelis Barrios won the gold medal in the 63-kilogram judo division at the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games.
The Venezuelan kept the gold metal after beating Mexico's Prisca Awiti in the final match for Ippon.
“I can't be in San Salvador 2023 due to an injury, which is why I was very focused on winning those medals and especially those rivals who are so strong. My goal will always be to give the best version of myself,” said Barrios, press review by the Ministry of Sports.
Along the way, he left the local Creymarlin Valdez on the Ippon road when he had completed 1:10 combat. I also defeated Cuba's Maylin del Toro.
“I managed to move forward with strategy, intelligence. I have been competing against them for a long time and I knew that -63 was one of the strongest categories at the Central American and Pan-American levels,” Barrios reflected.
