The supply of essential and seasonal products is fully guaranteed for this Christmas season, said the president of the National Association of Supermarkets and Self-Services (ANSA), Ítalo Atencio.
During an interview on the Al Aire program, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, he stated that he held meetings with the executives of several supermarket chains, representatives of the agro-industrial and food sectors.
“A supply front has been worked on: the supply of sensitive and Christmas products is guaranteed this Christmas season,” he said.
He explained that product prices were revised, “each sector reported each of its nodes that were affecting those prices.”
On the other hand, Atencio recognized an increase in domestic production of items and the presence of brands for goods such as rice, tomato sauce, corn flour, pasta, coffee, margarine, mayonnaise, cleaning products and grains, which he believes was achieved by increasing the number of businesses throughout the Venezuelan territory.
He also noted that over the course of this year, 34 supermarket branches were inaugurated nationwide. “There is a store that is going to open soon in La Florida,” he said.
“Yesterday, in Zulia, a very large pharmacy chain with 26 stores opened in Ciudad Ojeda. Wherever you go, there are people opening stores, businesses (...) Venezuelans are still doing business,” he said.
He also pointed out that the currency “has been recovering and this year we are going to end up in stability and with a good economic indicator”.
He specified that throughout the Venezuelan territory there are 154 supermarkets with bakeries and 130 chains with coffee shops.
