The supermarket sector in Venezuela experienced remarkable dynamism during 2025, achieving a growth of 13% in consumption levels. According to the president of the National Association of Supermarkets and Self-Services (ANSA), Ítalo Atencio, this increase reflects a sustained recovery in the purchasing power of citizens, marking a positive trend for the national economy.

In this context, the president of ANZA stated: “This uptick in sales is accompanied by robust investment in infrastructure, which resulted in the inauguration of 66 new stores across the country.” The expansion covered various formats, from large chains to convenience stores, which allowed greater penetration of the service in different regions of the Venezuelan territory, according to the union report.

During his speech in the “Star Report” program, Atencio emphasized that respect for the official rate of the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) represents a determining factor in this success. Compliance with this exchange rate indicator in savings banks has generated trust and stability, encouraging users to prefer sales channels that guarantee transparent prices.

The union representative highlighted the evolution of a more conscious and digitalized consumer, who uses their phone to compare costs before choosing where to buy. By identifying the economic benefits offered by the BCV rate differential on the shelves, the public turns their preference to these stores to optimize their family budget.
