Anzoátegui Firefighters and Civil Protection controlled forest fire in the Guanta Valley

A forest fire recorded on the night of this Tuesday, February 17, affected 19 hectares of the 41.32 hectares that make up the José Tadeo Arreaza Calatrava Park, located in Guanta, a metropolitan area of the state of Anzoátegui.

Park rangers reported that at 3:00pm this Wednesday, the 18th, the fire was completely extinguished.

The Anzoátegui Fire Department, on its Instagram account , reported that in the so-called plant lung of the coastal municipality, 1,800 liters of water were used to put out the fire.

He stressed that the situation was addressed immediately and efforts were deployed to contain and quell the flames, “thanks to the joint work between Fire and Civil Protection officers in Anzoátegui, together with Security Agencies and support teams.”

Regarding the causes of the event, residents of Guanta claim to have seen a flare that they threw during the Carnival parade fall into the park, but the authorities have not reported anything about it.

Officials from Firefighters, Marine Firefighters, Aeronautical and PDVSA Firefighters, Anzoátegui Civil Protection, Guanta Police, Inparks, Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) and regional and municipal police worked in an articulated manner to put out the flames.

For his part, Mayor Yinder Saldivia specified that in the early hours of the morning of this Wednesday, the 18th, the fire had been brought under control after 7 hours of combat, and that they were in the cooling phase.
