Apure representatives dominated the sambo qualifier heading to the Youth Sports Games

The state of Apure dominated the sambo qualifier for the 2026 Youth National Sports Games, winning three gold, two silver and four bronze medals for a total of nine medals, at the event held in Maracay, Aragua.
The second place went to Sucre with two golds, two silvers and three bronzes to accumulate nine medals. While the third rung was for the representation of Barinas with two medals of each metal.
In the 71 kg category, Antonio Rivero from Apurea demonstrated his superiority to win against Sebastián Castañeda from Sucrense in the final. The bronze medals went to Falconi Mathias Gutierrez and Yaracuyan Pablo Rivero.
Also, in the 79 kilograms, Nicolás Baggio, from Apurea, won the gold, after defeating Ronaldo Rivera from Miranda. The bronze was shared by the Bolivarian, Aaron Rodríguez and the Barinese Héctor Barrios.
In the 47-kilogram division, Yelimar Muñoz from Apurea was crowned champion, beating Falconi's Valeria González. The bronze medal went to Jesleidys Merchán from Sucrense and Cleidemary Tovar from Yaracuya.
Ismar Oropeza from Barinas won the 59 kilograms gold, followed by María Venero from Apurea. The bronze went to the Falconian Salma Chalawitt and the Bolivarian Gabriela González.
In the 65 kilograms, local athlete Michel Araujo won gold against Nicole Hernández from Apurea, while Mariham Crespo (Barinas) and Sophia Tavares (Yaracuy) took bronze.
Finally, in the 72-kilogram division, Andrea Milanés from Aragüeña won the gold medal, beating Luisanyi González from Sucrense. The bronze ones went to Danyelis De La Cruz from Carabobeña and Carla García from Apurea
