This Friday, August 16, from Plaza Girardot in the capital of Aragua, the national consultation of the Law against Fascism, Neofascism and Similar Expressions began with the objective of accelerating its approval in the context of the complaint of opposition violence after elections.
The deputy to the National Assembly, José Gregorio Colmenares, took the floor to explain that it is a law to “preserve peace and healthy coexistence (...) preserve life and that is why we must see ourselves in it, draw it and build it regardless of our beliefs and positions because today they are witnessing a call from the legislative power. Fascism is an expression of the extreme right and therefore its way of doing politics is not electoral (...) Today we bring, at the request of the People of Venezuela, the discussion and consultation of the law.”
He noted that in just a few hours, there were 25 deaths in the right-wing rallies on Monday, July 29, with Aragua being the state that accumulated the largest number of them. “We are bringing this law to preserve peace and prevent these events from happening again, and we can become an example for the region.”
He explained that these are 30 articles that will be discussed in the working tables arranged in the 18 municipalities of the entity.
