Bloomberg, in a quote to official documents, reported that the Swiss multinational Nestlé is facing a formal request from some of its shareholders, who demand that the company significantly increase its catalog of healthy products, arguing that three-quarters of its sales come from unhealthy foods.

The league and including the charity ShareAction, dedicated to promoting responsible investment and improving corporate behavior on environmental and social issues, issued a resolution asking Nestlé to set goals to increase sales of healthier foods and enforce international standards on healthy foods.

According to information detailed by Russia Today (RT), the lawsuits come as pressure grows on food companies to produce a range of healthier products, amid increasing health problems related to poor nutrition.

For the measures to be approved, they must receive at least 50% support plus one vote in a vote that will take place in April, during the annual meeting.

ShareAction had previously criticized Nestlé for relying too much “on unhealthy food sales” and not doing enough to boost sales of nutritious products. The talks on the subject that have since begun have come to an impasse.
