The Secretary of Infrastructure Coordination of Argentina, Carlos Frugoni, submitted his formal resignation after it was revealed that he owns at least seven properties in Miami, United States (USA) that were not included in his mandatory asset declarations.
The Neoliberal Ministry of Economy confirmed that the official failed to report these acquisitions to both the Anti-Corruption Office and the Customs Collection and Control Agency (ARCA), which precipitated his immediate departure from the public administration.
The former official's legal situation was complicated by the filing of a criminal complaint against him for the alleged concealment of assets exceeding 1.5 million dollars abroad. The judicial process was based in the federal court under the direction of Judge Daniel Rafecas, who will investigate the origin of the funds and the reasons behind the omission of these assets from the official records required for high-ranking positions.
This new case of irregularities in the national cabinet deepens the scrutiny of the transparency of public officials and the effectiveness of asset control mechanisms in the country.
The scandal comes at a complex time for the Executive, since it adds to the open investigations into the affidavits of the Chief of Staff, Manuel Adorni, who is also facing questions due to inconsistencies in the information presented to State oversight bodies.
The departure of the infrastructure owner marks a critical point in the management of national works and raises questions about the integrity of administrative processes under his direct supervision.
As the judicial system advances in the collection of evidence on properties in Florida, the national government seeks to contain the political impact of these revelations, which affect institutional trust and place ethics in the exercise of public service at the center of the debate.
