This Thursday, the Argentine Senate began the delayed debate over the Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU), which President Javier Milei signed in December, which includes hundreds of articles that deregulate the economy.
Russia Today (RT) explained that the day is marked by political tensions, since the president tried to prevent the parliamentary discussion from taking place, which led to a strong fight with Vice President Victoria Villarruel, who, due to her position, also presides over the Senate and is responsible for conducting the sessions.
The DNU, which was dubbed “megaderect”, is one of Milei's central projects, since the reforms reflect its libertarian ideology based on privatization, the scrapping of the State and the regression of social rights.
