This Wednesday, a court in Argentina sentenced Fernando Sabag Montiel, the main defendant for the attempted assassination of former president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner (2007-2015), to 10 years in prison, which occurred in 2022.
“Convict Fernando Sabag Montiel (...) for considering him criminally responsible for the crime of aggravated homicide through the use of an attempted firearm in real competition with the crime of carrying a weapon of war without proper legal authorization, to the penalty of ten years in prison,” said Judge Sabrina Namer, of the Federal Criminal Court No. 6.
During the trial, both faced parallel trials for other crimes. Sabag Montiel was sentenced to four years and three months in prison for possession and distribution of material for the sexual exploitation of children under 13, while Uriarte faced a one-year suspended prison sentence for the illegal possession of an identity document.
