An Argentine federal prosecutor required this Friday, February 21, the first test measures to analyze the scam linked to the cryptocurrency $LIBRA, promoted a week ago by President Javier Milei and which caused millions of dollars in losses to thousands of investors.

“An attempt is made to establish the circumstances of time, mode and place that surrounded the creation and launch of $LIBRA and what participation Javier Milei had” and other managers, says the presentation of prosecutor Eduardo Taiano, a review of the Sputnik portal.

A day after federal judge María Servini delegated the investigation to prosecutor Taiano, she also included in her investigation the American Hayden Mark Davis, creator of $LIBRA through his consulting and cryptocurrency investment firm Kalsier Ventures, who was received by Milei on January 30 at the Casa Rosada, headquarters of the Executive.

Also subject to research will be Julián Peh, co-founder and director of another company registered in Panama linked to the creation, Kip Protocol, who attended a conference organized in October by the Tech Forum technology forum attended by Milei and Mark Davis.

In his investigation, the prosecutor also points to Mauricio Gaspar Novelli and Manuel Terrones Godoy, organizers of the Tech Forum, and to Sergio Daniel Morales, another advisory consultant in the National Securities Commission (CNV), who with the previous two visited the Casa Rosada twice in June 2024.

Taiano ordered the expansion of the intervention of the Fiscal Unit Specialized in Cybercrime of the Public Prosecutor's Office to cooperate with the preservation and recovery of evidence.

The official also requested different reports from public and private bodies, such as the Central Bank.

On February 14, President Milei published a post on social media in which he recommended investing in $LIBRA, an unbacked digital currency created three minutes earlier and which had 82% of its working capital in the hands of five digital wallets.
