In Argentina, the Government of Javier Milei dissolved the Secretariat for Territorial Development, Habitat and Housing, through Decree 70/2025. With this measure, the management of programs related to housing, such as the Casa Propria plan, will be transferred to the Secretariat of Public Works.

The far-right Milei hides behind the excuse that housing policy should be administered primarily by local governments and the private sector.

The decree states that “housing policy must be managed mainly by provinces, municipalities and the private sector, thus reducing the intervention of the National State in this area”.

Milei's main justification is that housing policy should be administered primarily by local governments and the private sector.
