The National Federation of University-Historical Teachers, Researchers and Creators of Argentina announced the holding of a 48-hour strike, for next Tuesday, August 20 and Wednesday, 21, to demand wage increases and denounce the measures of the Argentine government, reported the Prensa Latina website.

This organization specified that this action will continue the plan of struggle of the National Universities Trade Union Front, initiated after the worsening of the situation of higher education centers due to the policies of President Javier Milei.

On the other hand, the Federation rejected the approval in the Chamber of Deputies of a regulation that declares education as an “essential service” to prevent workers in the sector from exercising their right to protest.

Faced with the refusal of the Ministry of Human Capital to open a true equal discussion and the persistent imposition of derisory increases, it becomes essential to continue to make the situation visible and deepen unity with the university community as a whole, a message from that body points out.

In addition, it confirms the decision to hold another march in defense of the public university in September.

The workers are also demanding the reinstatement of the Teacher Incentive Fund, the elimination of income tax and the updating of retirees.

This week, the Front carried out a 72-hour strike that included a rally in front of Congress to express its rejection of the Executive's intention to ban social protest and begin the privatization of the education system in this South American country.

On the other hand, he condemned the interruption of programs for the delivery of books and computers, the suspension of sending resources to school canteens and the stoppage of infrastructure works, among other measures by Milei.
