More than 30 cities in defense of the Glacier Law will be mobilized this Thursday, the 4th, in Argentina, the Plurinational Platform of the South American country reported.

“Now, Milei intends to modify it (law) to favor the advancement of multinational mining companies, such as Barrick Gold, the protagonist of the dispossession and looting that occurred in Pascua Lama [Chile]. The announced bill also represents a completely unconstitutional initiative for violating the principle of non-regression in environmental matters and all the precepts of the Escazú Agreement to which our country signed,” said the platform.

According to what was published on the Telesur web portal, the regulation enacted in 2010 defines glaciers as public goods and highlights them as strategic reserves of water resources for human consumption. For this reason, the Argentine Government's privatization policy seeks the release of polluting substances, the construction of works, the installation of industries and the exploitation of mining and hydrocarbons.
