The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, reported this Thursday that during his administration, around 50,000 weapons have been seized illegally into the Aztec country from the United States (USA).
In his usual morning press conference, the head of state pointed out that 70% of the weapons used by organized crime in Mexico come from the North American country, specifically from Texas. “How does the governor of Texas (Republican Greg Abbott) respond to this?” , he questioned.
López Obrador criticized the hardening of anti-immigrant discourse on the part of both Republicans and Democrats during the current electoral process.
“There are always going to be those crooked people who are going to intervene and take unilateral measures. You don't have to take them too seriously because it's election season,” he said.
