Art Network promotes workshops and activities on ancient techniques

During this week, the Red Art Foundation will develop a national agenda of workshops , talks and trade demonstrations to promote the preservation of ancient techniques and recognize handmade craftsmanship.

The activities will take place in its stores and galleries, which will function as spaces for training and exchange between creative teachers and communities.

The schedule includes proposals related to wristwear, wood carving, textiles, fibers, clay modeling, goldsmithing and other traditional practices.

The program began this Tuesday in Bolívar state with a demonstration of popular wristwear by Amada Hidalgo . At the same time, in Trujillo, the artisan Ernesto “Tico” Díaz offered a discussion about carving and wooden toys, while Mérida inaugurated the “Ancestral Earthenware and Cacao” exhibition, dedicated to the memory of the local Deisa Niño.

The agenda will continue on September 9 with activities such as “Traces and shapes of the traditional cloth”, by Sonia Rivas in Barinas; “Weaving Identity”, with Jorge Guerra in Zulia; and the meeting “Between Techniques, Fusing Clay and Carving in Tapara”, in Carabobo. Trujillo will also offer a workshop on Abayomi African dolls.

Between September 10 and 12, new workshops and meetings will be held in Mérida, Delta Amacuro, Trujillo, Barinas, Zulia and Carabobo, with proposals for crocheting, textiles, goldsmithery, clay modeling, Caballitos de San Juan and patchwork.
