The president of Asocauchos, Rafael Hernández, reported that the sector is evaluating a change in the relationship between imports and local production by 2026, with the possibility that the market will operate with a schedule of 70% of domestic production and 30% of imports.

Hernández stressed that this forecast is based on the import substitution policy and on the tariff adjustments applied by the State. He indicated that these measures are aimed at directing demand towards tires manufactured in the country.

“The State is committed through tariff processes and tariff protections to protecting the domestic industry,” he said.

He specified that, in 2025, 35,000 new vehicles entered the country, which will generate a demand for tire replacement during this year. He added that an additional 50,000 units are expected to be sold, a figure that will contribute to the market movement. He also mentioned that oil activity and the introduction of new models will stimulate the sector's performance.

Hernández highlighted that the local industry maintains competitive standards in relation to international supply. “Our tires are classified as one of the best tires in the world, our technology is cutting-edge,” he said, referring to the performance of Venezuelan rubber.
