Astrid Montero and Nohalis Loyo among the four best in the world in the under-23 category fight in Serbia

Venezuelan women Astrid Montero and Nohalis Loyo
placed fourth in the Wrestling World Cup in the under-23 category, which
was held in the city of Nova Sid, in Serbia.
Montero, who just won the gold medal in freestyle in
the 62-kilogram category at the Junior
Pan American Games in Asunción 2025, placed fourth in the
standings after beating Poland's Alicja Nowosad 5-3 in the previous
round that gives access to the elimination keys, Ministry of Sport press reports.
The 22-year-old Falconi woman maintained her dominance in
the round of 16, this time winning 8-3 over China's Huan Yang,
while in the quarterfinals she did the same with a score of 7-5 against American Adaugo Diana Nwachukwu.
However, Montero took fourth place in
the 62 kilograms after giving up 8-5 against Ukraine's Iryna Bondar in the
semifinals and doing the same, but by a score of 8-1 against Nigeria's
Esther Omolayo Kolawole, this time in the battle to keep one of the two bronze metals that were in dispute.
As for Nohalis Loyo, the
23-year-old Barquisimetana, began her journey in the round of 16 with a 3-1 victory
against the fighter protected by the International Federation of the discipline,
Sviatlana Katenka, but gave 10-0 to the American Audrey Jiménez in the quarterfinals.

Kerymova in the semifinals and her subsequent advance to the final allowed the bronze medalist in the Asu 2025 to compete in
the repechage with
Sweden's Svenja Jungo, who she defeated 9-6 to keep her chances for bronze.
However, the Venezuelan was beaten 9-7 by the Ukrainian Aida Kerymoya to finish in fourth place in the 50-kilogram division.
