The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, accompanied by the Ombudsman, Alfredo Ruiz, installed this Wednesday the Committee for Justice for Victims of Fascism in July 2024.

In that regard, he explained that this committee aims to open a space in which victims can be treated in a direct and personalized way, share their truth, show the reality of what happened to advance in the determination of responsibilities and avoid going unpunished these “serious events”.

The head of the criminal action specified that “ there is justice in Venezuela”, so whoever declares himself innocent and has no incriminating evidence will be released, “but those who are held responsible as a result of the investigation, justice will also act to be sanctioned and convicted.”

He explained that those who were released, after the review of the measures are the product of the action of the Venezuelan State, “no NGO can claim any achievement in this area because they are not part of the ongoing criminal process.”

In this regard, he pointed out that a campaign has been developed with elements of conviction to discuss that no one arrested for the events of July 28 are political prisoners or innocent, so he rejected any attempt to minimize the victims of these events through the media.

He also recalled that after the acts of violence caused by the extreme right in July 2024, the Public Ministry (MP) has carried out 1,192 experiments and 107 medical examinations on people who at the time have been arrested or are being investigated.

“There will be justice for the 28 people killed and the 195 injured!” , he ruled.
