This Monday, the 29th, the Attorney General of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Tarek William Saab, announced that during the electoral process, 60 incidents occurred and there were 17 arrests.
During a press conference, Saab explained that the most recurrent cases were due to the destruction of electoral material, with 32 cases.
The Prosecutor classified the number of incidents as extremely small considering that the election had 15,797 authorized polling stations.
“These minimal incidences speak well of the Venezuelan voter, of the citizenship that reigned on election day,” he said.
It also reported that a group of violent people destroyed property and buildings belonging to the “Rio Negro” CDI in the Rio Negro parish, Machíques de Perijá municipality, and incinerated electoral machines. “For these events, three rip-offs were arrested and identified by the community,” he added.
On the other hand, he indicated that in Trujillo, Aura Guerra, María Batista, Isaac Quevedo and Diego Urbina were arrested for trying to shut down the Electoral Center and assaulting military officials.
Meanwhile, in Carabobo, Juan Rodríguez and Exar Castillo were arrested while inciting violence and assaulting security officials.
While in Caracas, Douglas García and Jorge Salcedo were identified as the main leaders and those responsible for violent actions that took place in the facilities of the Liceo Andrés Bello, located on Avenida México, La Candelaria parish in the Libertador municipality.
In addition, it became known that citizen Deivi Israel Correa Bracoviche, better known as "Deivi Correa" on various social networks, called for taking to the streets to ignore the electoral results.
In Zulia, Yeissel Pérez was identified as the instigator of a violent protest that took place at the EU Voting Center Monsignor Helimenas Añez in the Maracaibo municipality. “The violent people knocked down a fence and assaulted two officials,” he added.
“These few facts contrast with the tranquility that prevails in the country today. All the cities in the country have woken up in peace and tranquility, which shows that the Venezuelan people do not want more violence or destabilization*, he said.
He confirmed that the officials of the different security bodies are on the alert to ensure peace.
