Through the social network X, Constitutional lawyer, Olga Álvarez, explained that hate crimes can be tried by the International Criminal Court (ICC), referring to those who use to threaten and incite violence in Venezuela just because they are outside the country.

“It is important to inform those who, using not being in Venezuelan territory, commit hate crimes, such as the one we read, that these crimes do not prescribe, that they can be tried both by the national laws in force in our national jurisdiction and by international jurisdiction (ICC) as established in the Rome Statute,” said Álvarez.

The Venezuelan lawyer's comment refers to the message published through the social network X by the actress, Nelly Pujols, which encourages attacks on people who denounce acts of violence promoted by the extreme right under the excuse of “peaceful demonstration” in communities.

For this reason, Álvarez stated: "The Republic, people's lives and peace are legal assets that are especially protected and severely punished.”
