This Friday, Cyclone Narelle made landfall in Queensland, in northeastern Australia with winds of 220 kilometers per hour, storm surges, rain and possible floods, so the competent authorities have called on residents to stay alert.

The spokesman for the Bureau of Meteorology, Matthew Collopy, predicted cumulative rainfall of more than 200 millimeters, placing the storm on the Cape York Peninsula, specifically west of Coen, the Australian public broadcaster ABC reported.

Alert messages have been issued for several communities to “seek refuge”, including Coen, Cook Shire and Hope Vale, and have launched evacuations in some areas that are expected to be affected by the storm caused by the cyclone.

David Crisafulli, regional leader, reported that the storm, which dropped to category 3 when it reached land, has knocked down trees and roofs, marking the first time that a cyclone of such magnitude has made landfall in the area in 100 years.
