In the National Pantheon, before the sarcophagus of El Libertador Simón Bolívar, a floral offering was held for the bicentenary of the Chuquisaca Decree, an act that was led by the Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez.
The event began with the intonation of the National Anthem of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, by the Martial Band of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), in honor of the Father of the Fatherland and in commemoration of this date.
During his speech, Rodríguez stressed that “universalism was in Simón Bolívar's vision of the future, it was a forerunner in the fields of humanitarian and social justice and his love for nature, and that is why Bolívar comes with this decree, the Chuquisaca decree”.
In this regard, he stated that “today, 200 years later, we are claiming his ecological legacy, love for nature, preservation, reforestation and it is precisely Bolívar who marks the way to vindicate the fundamental principles of the rights of human beings, of nature”.
“We are on that path when we say that capitalism is a model of predatory production that does not respect the rights of nature. Today we are claiming the historical legacy of our father Simón Bolívar, and that predatory model today threatens the existence of human beings,” he said.
The event was attended by the Minister of Popular Power for Ecosocialism, Ricardo Molina; the president of INPARQUES, Rosinés Chávez; the sectorial vice-president of Science, Technology and Health, Gabriela Jiménez and the president of the Center for Latin American Studies Rómulo Gallegos (CELARG), Pedro Calzadilla.
