Authorities report the birth of four fox dogs at Maracay Zoo

Authorities at the Maracay Zoo reported the birth of four beautiful dog fox (Cerdocyon thous) puppies that will soon be one month old.

They detail that the young are in very good condition and are cared for by their mother Cachi and guarded by their father Carora.

The birth took place in the enclosure, where natural elements have allowed the couple to be at ease and to raise the puppies with peace of mind.

This species of wild canid is widely distributed in our country and has adapted to multiple ecosystems. One of the main threats it faces is interaction with humans in common environments, where it is hunted for being seen as a threat, run over on roads and exposure to diseases from domestic animals.
