Barquisimeto International Fair 2026 suspended in solidarity with those affected by earthquakes

The Barquisimeto Tourism Corporation (CORTUBAR) announced this Thursday the suspension of the Barquisimeto International Fair in its 2026 edition, in accordance with the principles of human sensitivity and fraternity, following the double earthquake of last June 24.

This measure adopted by the administration of the mayor of the Iribarren municipality, Yanys Agüero, is carried out in solidarity with the families and communities affected by the earthquake that affected seven states of the country, reported the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN).

Through an official statement, the municipal body highlighted the citizenship and altruistic spirit of the Barquisimethane people, who after the catastrophe overflowed with support to collect and transport tons of food, medicine and supplies to the most impacted areas.

To replace the fair event and, as part of the city's 474th anniversary, the municipality and CORTUBAR will deploy the Barquisimeto Renace Plan in its 474 years: Culture, Solidarity and Life.

This special program will run from mid-August to September 14, the day of the founding of Barquisimeto.

The alternative plan will focus on citizen reunion, family recreation, care for young people and the reactivation of the historic center of Barquisimeto.
