As part of the National Scientific Seed Plan, promoted by the Bolivarian Government, through the Ministry of Science and Technology (MINCYT), more than 90 initial and basic education students from the Aquiles-Nazoa Rural Municipal School, located in the Boquerón sector of Hoyo de la Puerta, in the municipality of Baruta, participated in a discussion on environmental education and animal rescue.
According to a MINCYT press release, those responsible for providing this training to the little ones were the veterinary team of the Serpentarium of the Institute for Advanced Studies Foundation (IDEA), who, with group dynamics, explained to the students the importance of caring for animals and plants.
In this regard, one of IDEA's veterinary doctors, Daniel Ramírez, said that during the presentation, girls and boys were explained about the habitat, diet and care of animal species such as the rabipelado or opossum, the spectacled alligator and the cosara crocodile, the litmus and scorpions.
They were also advised that animals such as snakes and scorpions are used in the IDEA Foundation for the extraction of their venom and their study, which may be useful for people who suffer from the bite of one of them.
“With these talks, we want students and other members of the student community to learn more about the conservation of the animals that surround their schools, homes or even those that circulate on the roads, to avoid any accidents that affect their health, in addition to protecting the integrity of these animals,” he said.
