Billo Frómeta is declared the bearer of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Venezuela

Better known as Billo Frómeta, Luis María Frómeta Pereira, was declared the patrimonial bearer of the Venezuelan nation, according to the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas.

On his account on the social network Instagram, he explained that he signed the certificate, as well as that of the orchestra “Billo's Caracas Boys”, as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Venezuela.

“An honor to sign the certificate that accredits Maestro Billo Frómeta as a heritage bearer of the Venezuelan nation, and that of his daughter, the orchestra Billo's Caracas Boys, as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Venezuela,” he said.

Frómeta Pereira, a Dominican-Venezuelan, was born in San Domingo, Dominican Republic, on November 15, 1915 and left physically in Caracas, on May 5, 1988 due to a stroke.

In 1940, he refounded his orchestra as “Billo's Caracas Boys” and is considered the most popular orchestra in the country with various songs such as “New Year”, “The Witch”, “The Flower of Work” and several songs dedicated out of love and gratitude to the city of Caracas, such as “Old Caracas” and “Canto a Caracas”, among others.
