During the Great Christmas Concert held in Rafael Pocaterra Square in Tocuyito, the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture declared Billo's Caracas Boys orchestra as Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Nation.
This was announced by the governor of the state of Carabobo, Rafael Lacava, who pointed out that this recognition is addressed to a group that for 85 uninterrupted years has been part of the festivities of Venezuelans.
“We are giving the just recognition given by the Presidency of the Republic, through the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture, to a group that has given us so much happiness and that has accompanied many Venezuelans and Latin Americans from generation to generation,” he said.
He also highlighted that this institution has an outstanding track record in the musical world and has generated great contributions to Venezuelans in its more than 80 years of history, in line with the joint work with President Nicolás Maduro and the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, in promoting artistic manifestations in the population.
“Groups such as Billo's Caracas Boys praise our identity, historical memory and the nation's cultural asset; that's why they are now registered in the Venezuelan Cultural Heritage Register and protected by laws that regulate the matter,” he said.
For his part, the singer of the prestigious orchestra, Yai Mayorga, highlighted the support of the national, regional and municipal governments to provide good music to the population over time.
“We thank them on behalf of all the members of the orchestra, because this historic day has been made possible for the most popular orchestra in Venezuela; we are writing history, and we are proud to be part of it,” he said.
At the same time, he exalted the legacy of Maestro Billo Frometa, founder of this iconic musical group, and all the musicians who have transcended this group, who did their bit to make it to this day.
It should be noted that during this activity, Christmas lights were also turned on in this venue, which was attended by the inhabitants of the town to enjoy the Christmas season.
