The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela launched a national day of comprehensive care and prevention aimed at Venezuelan women, aimed at raising awareness of the importance of self-care and facilitating access to early detection of breast cancer and cervical cancer, the main causes of female mortality in the country.
In an interview with Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), the Minister of Popular Power for Women and Gender Equality, Yelitze Santaella, highlighted that this initiative, which is being carried out together with the Ministry of Popular Power for Health in connection with the beginning of the Pink Month, will maintain authorized health centers throughout the country so that each woman can dedicate a space to priority care during this month.
“The central objective of the Bolivarian Government during this month is to work on the preventive part and to make women aware of the historical need to take care of themselves, because they are a fundamental part of the development of society. Talking about prevention is a year-round commitment, but in this Pink Month we call for losing fear through awareness and self-examination,” he emphasized.
In addition, Santaella indicated that they will carry out activities in various public institutions in the country, as well as special days for women from the indigenous, peasant and Afro-descendant sectors, which reaffirms the commitment of the national Government to the democratization of access to health.
The day includes a varied pink agenda focused not only on diagnostic health, but also on the integral well-being, training and recreation of communities, including specialized medical days, nutrition workshops and educational activities for self-care. In addition, recreational and cultural events such as dance therapy, community sports activities and artistic events will be held.
