The President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, ratified Venezuela's historic position on Essequiba Guiana this Saturday, on the 127th anniversary of the fraudulent Arbitration Award of Paris in 1899.
Through her social networks, the president pointed out that this instrument “intended to strip us of an important part of our territory”, so “we reaffirm the historical position of Venezuela over our Guiana Esequiba”.
“The Geneva Agreement of 1966 is the only valid legal instrument to resolve this territorial dispute, through a practical, satisfactory and mutually acceptable settlement for both parties,” he said.
In this regard, he emphasized that "Venezuela will not endorse the anachronistic reissue of this territorial fraud through Guyana's unilateral action before the ICJ. Any effective solution must come from negotiations between the two countries.”
Finally, he ratified Venezuela's commitment “to legality and good neighborhood relations in the defense of our rights.”
