Bolivarian Government announced the creation of the Municipal Prize for Culture in Maturín

To praise municipal artists, the mayor of Maturín, Ana Fuentes, announced the creation of the Municipal Prize for Culture, with the purpose of paying tribute to artists who for years have worked with dedication for and for art and the promotion of cultural identity.

This was announced during the celebration of National Artist's Day. The tribute was attended by emblematic figures of different artistic expressions such as singing, cinema, dance, literature, plastic arts, theater, culinary art and utility art; they accompanied the mayor in the welcome and award ceremony.

Among the guests were singers Miguel Adonay, Milagros Simosa and Rito Tocuyo; theater actors Oscar Salazar and Conchita Coa, who said that “this is the first time in 50 years that something like this has been done for artists in the municipality of Maturín”.

Also part of the gallery were dance representatives María Elena Marín and Geraldo Díaz; international chef Roger Luna, film director Martín Martínez, visual artists José Fornez and Carlos Reyes and, representing the Warao brothers, Mileida Del Valle Rebolledo, who sang an excerpt from the Venezuelan National Anthem in her native language.

Fuentes in an emotional speech recognized the work of the cultivators in the municipality. “We have a very important debt, to recognize their work for so many years,” he said.
