The Bolivarian Government, through the Foreign Minister, Yván Gil, and the Minister of Defense, G/J Gustavo González, awarded awards to the German delegation for its hard work in the search, rescue, medical care, rescue and protection of the lives of the victims of the double earthquake of last June 24.

The “Hero of Venezuela” medal was awarded to the head of the German humanitarian mission, Peter Banks, and to Sebastián Swan, head of operations, together with a letter and decoration to the federal chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Friedrich Merz.

In addition, the Bolivarian Government decorated the canines, who with their sense of smell and determination were a beacon in the dark for countless Venezuelan families.

“On behalf of the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, we wanted to pay this small tribute of gratitude, from the Government and people of Venezuela, to the efforts that you have dedicated in recent days,” said the foreign minister.

He stressed that it is an honor to be “firing and decorating them after the effort, work, dedication, sacrifice and tiredness that you have left here, in our country, during these days”.

He concluded by stressing that “they will always be present in the memory of Venezuelan women and Venezuelans who have suffered this catastrophic event”, assuring that they have been exhausting days of hard work in the field, “you carry a piece of our land in your hearts and our permanent gratitude for such dedication”.
