The Bolivarian government began the comprehensive rehabilitation of the emblematic San José de Cagua church in the Sucre municipality in Aragua, a historic icon that has witnessed the life and culture of the city council for more than 403 years.
This project aims to preserve and restore the architectural history of this temple. The tasks carried out include the replacement of the floor, the rehabilitation of the walls and niches, as well as the restoration of the altar. In addition, lighting will be improved and an integral painting will be carried out to highlight the beauty of the church's interior, creating a more welcoming environment for parishioners and visitors.
It should be remembered that in 2023, previous work was carried out that included the conditioning of the bell tower, the improvement of the choir space and the replacement and waterproofing of the entire roof. These actions were essential to ensure the structural integrity of the temple and preserve its history.
The work is carried out by a heritage restoration team, accompanied by the pastoral council of the San José de Cagua parish, in coordination with the mayor of the municipality Wilson Coy, at the head.
The rehabilitation of this emblematic church is part of the effort being made by the municipal president, together with Governor Karina Carpio and President Nicolás Maduro, through the Sucre de Fe Plan, for the recovery of the different spaces of faith and devotion in the parishes of Cagua and Bella Vista
