On the José Antonio Páez highway, Portuguese state, the first phase of the National Plan for Comprehensive Road Care is progressing, which involves the installation of 25,000 tons of asphalt to repair the stretch that connects the municipalities of Agua Blanca and Ospino.

The director of the Ministry of Transport in the entity, Juan Carlos Leal, reported that the entire highway in Portuguesa will be rehabilitated with a total of 115,000 tons of asphalt, but in this first stage, 25,000 tons will be applied that were approved to serve “the most critical sites we have at the moment”.

“We are at the Agua Blanca Distributor, we are going to make an advance to Araure and then we are going to arrive in the Ospino municipality,” he said.

He explained that after covering the Agua Blanca-Ospino road connection, other phases of the plan will be implemented until reaching the municipality of San Genaro de Boconoíto, which is the border between Portuguesa and Barinas.

The works are part of the Venezuelan Government's strategic investment in mobility, security and economic growth, since the improvement of the José Antonio Páez highway facilitates agricultural transport and translates into travel times between the center and the midwest of the country and the Andean region, and vice versa.
