The Bolivarian Government has incorporated 17 ambulances into communes in 12 states of the country with the objective of improving emergency transportation and expanding the operational capacity of community health services.
The units, assigned through the Ministry of Popular Power for Communes, Social Movements and Urban Agriculture, were distributed in Aragua, Apure, Barinas, Bolívar, Cojedes, Delta Amacuro, Guárico, Lara, Monagas, Nueva Esparta, Táchira and Zulia.
María Esperanza Peña, spokeswoman for the El Cocuy Commune in Tinaquillo, Cojedes, stressed that the ambulance will allow us to respond more quickly to the needs of the territory and that communities assume responsibility for their operation and training in emergency assistance.
Among the beneficiary communes is Nacimos Para Vencer con Chávez, in Biruaca, Apure, which received a unit in May to reinforce patient transport and immediate assistance in critical situations.
Ambulances are equipped with life support equipment and patient transport, expanding the reach of health services in rural and urban areas. In Aragua, Isabel Adrián, spokesperson for the General Commune Rafael Urdaneta, stressed that the unit has already been used for emergency transfers and assistance to people without resources.
Citizens' Assemblies have defined usage and maintenance protocols to ensure an efficient and transparent service. In Zulia, the Comuna Sueños de Hugo Chávez is carrying out training in first aid and pre-hospital care, with the support of firefighters, civil protection and paramedical personnel.
