The mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, reported that the Economic Development Fund (Fondec) provided materials to 16 families that inhabit the Amapola building, located in the San Bernardino parish.
He explained, from his Instagram account, that the action is being carried out in response to the direct request of the neighbors, who expressed their interest in rebuilding the building that was affected by the double earthquake of June 24.
Under the self-construction modality, the inhabitants of the Amapola building will receive the necessary supplies to recover both the apartments and the common areas.
“In Caracas, we have so far a total of 72 work fronts, in which our crews carry out the reconstruction of buildings and spaces; and in other cases, when the neighbors have requested it, we deliver materials, after the corresponding inspection,” he said.
