The Bolivarian Government held a great day of fish distribution in 15 states of the country, within the framework of the “Venezuela Eats + Fish” Plan.

This plan is carried out thanks to the joint effort between the Major Food States, the Popular Power and the fishing people, who were deployed in 47 points located adjacent to the main temples, as part of the beginning of Lent, as reported by the Deputy Minister of Fisheries Production and Processing, José Gregorio Briceño, since the day held in Plaza La Candelaria, in Caracas.

“Hand in hand with a cultural and religious tradition that embraces all Christian people, the consumption of white meat begins more strongly, highlighting fish protein as one of the favorites. This great cohesion between the State and the fishing sector translates into an efficient supply for the people; therefore, following the instructions of the National Executive, we will ensure that this high intake of fish is not limited only to this peak of consumption, but that it is maintained in a sustained manner throughout the year,” said Briceño, a press release from the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture.

The deployment, which covers different regions, stands out for its freshness, variety of species and supportive prices that make fish protein an excellent option for the Venezuelan diet.

In this regard, Briceño highlighted that so far in 2026, 1,400 tons have been distributed in the Cardumen Fair modality, highlighting the preference as the third most consumed animal protein in 2025.

From the Ministry of People's Power for Fisheries and Aquaculture, the authorities have emphasized that the goal is to maintain constant access to these items during these 40 days of Lent, allowing the people to maintain their dietary habits of the season and ensuring that this is extended to the other months of the year.
