The Bolivarian Government installed a Permanent Technical Board for Road Safety together with the main delivery companies and mobility platforms, such as Yummy, PedidosYa and Ridery, in order to reduce the alarming numbers of road accidents and transform the driving culture in the country.

The meeting, reported on its Venezuelan Television website, was held at the headquarters of the Federation of Cameras and Companies of Venezuela (FEDEINDUSTRIA), where the Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers Industrialists (AIFEM), formalized the creation of a Permanent Technical Board, in order to activate a national comprehensive education campaign.

The plan will be implemented in conjunction with the Deputy Ministry of Transport and the National Institute of Land Transport (INTT).

“The motorcycle is an indispensable tool for progress, work and efficient mobility. The real challenge lies in road behavior, operational risk management and the need to consolidate a solid culture of prevention on the streets,” said the president of AIFEM, Xiomara Hoyos.

In addition, Hoyos explained that the home delivery service is an essential engine in today's economy; however, it represents an enormous public responsibility.

There is a statistical percentage that shows that road accidents tend to involve motorcycles, making this situation a public health problem that requires proactive and immediate attention.

The delivery companies Yummy and PedidosYa stated the need to regulate the “uncontrolled exchange of clothing” and also supported the proposal to implement mandatory defensive driving courses.

Both companies reported a volume of 1,600 active motorized vehicles per month.

For his part, César Machado, representative of Ridery, announced the addition of a driving simulator to evaluate his drivers.
