This Wednesday, the Bolivarian Government launched
the National Cinematography Plan 2026-2031, as part of the celebration
of the 129th anniversary of Venezuelan Cinema.
This was announced by the Minister of
Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, from the Center for
Latin American and Caribbean Studies Rómulo Gallegos (CELARG), in the city of
Caracas, where activities were carried out in the framework of the anniversary of Venezuelan Cinema.
Villegas explained that the program seeks to
consolidate “a robust Venezuelan cinematography that is at the service of
our identity, of peace, of national development, of the Venezuelan affirmative.”
In addition, he reported on the creation of a film production
line for children and young people that will bear the name of
Donald Myerston and Viveca Baiz, “because the seventh art is a tool
to exalt independence; without cinematography there is no sovereignty,” he said.
For this reason, he called on the film community, “in its widest diversity, to contribute to the path of building a road of peace and democratic coexistence for this country”.
